Goleta

North of Santa Barbara is the incorporated city of Goleta, a sprawling family community that feels more like a large suburban neighborhood than a city. Businesses, restaurants and shopping malls are mostly confined to the two streets that parallel the 101 Freeway with the majority of space taken up by moderately priced tract homes interspersed with small parcels of farmland, parks and several golf courses. The foothill areas offer the higher end custom homes with ocean views and larger acreage. On the ocean side is Goleta Beach with its 200-foot fishing pier, restaurant, park and picnic area. Excellent public transportation is available connecting all of the residential and commercial areas.
